2019 Trends: Canopy Beds
I’ve been flipping through the January/February editions of a few interiors magazines and décor blogs, and most all of them have a similar feature… 2019 Trends in Interior Design. I know, I know – who hasn’t already done a trend forecast – well, me. I decided to highlight some of my favorite examples of these up and coming trends over the course of a blog series. I’m starting with one that makes me super excited, canopy beds!
Canopy beds are making a comeback! These beds can be glamorous, modern, rustic, whimsical – there is so much style and versatility within this one type of furnishing. I’m sure the first thought you may have had was that of historic palaces, like the royal chambers at Versailles.
While beautiful in its own right, the beds we are looking at are about two hundred years more recent.
This poster bed with canopy has a very traditional, stately feel.
The rich fabrics and bullion trim give it a luxe appeal.
This gorgeous powdered blue and cream bedroom is such a dreamy oasis!
The crown canopy really sets the tone, and gives even more height to the coordinating headboard.
This circus themed children’s room really feels like you’re under the big top with the striped, draped canopy over each bed.
Such a beautiful, youthful bedroom that will grow with the child.
Canopy beds are often more feminine, but this is a great example of a more neutral or masculine canopy.
The no frills materials are crisp and clean – throw in a classic plaid wallpaper,
and the chic leather bench and you have a modern take on the canopy bedroom.
Lucite and brass give this poster canopy bed a glam appeal.
The textured rug and bedding give the room interest while still maintaining a polished, luxurious feel.
One of my favorites! This daybed is really elevated by the cornice and canopy.
The cornice is mounted at the ceiling to draw your eye up, in a room with low seating.
For more canopy beds – that you’ll be seeing in your dreams – drift on over to our Bedrooms Board. I am excited to continue sharing my favorites from the years upcoming design trends. Keep checking the blog, as I will be mixing this 2019 Trends series in with other posts throughout the coming weeks.
