Back to business, y'all! I left off in my last post with the original before photo of the bedroom, after telling you about building our closet system and showing you the concept board. After we got the doors and crystal door knobs installed, it was time to get to work on the trim. Jeremy and I watched some videos online, measured the room, determined the height for the chair rail, and came up with a game plan for the picture frame molding... of course some of that plan went right out the window once we got to Lowes. We found a chair rail we liked, but felt it needed something more, so we decided to add dentil molding below the rail. After quadruple checking our math for the picture frame trim (the closest big box home improvement store is about 30 minutes away) we loaded up the cart and checked out. Did I mention that Jeremy "impulse" bought a nail gun and air compressor?! It made installing all that trim a breeze, and now that it's pool season, you better believe I'm using the compressor to pump up my pool floats!
Before we started, had to do a little Pinterest recon, to find the right solution for under the windows. Unfortunately the windows aren't centered on the wall space, but Jeremy and I measured things out, marking the wall and once we were satisfied, got to work! Once we got into the groove - it takes a minute to make sure you cut those angles the right way! - it didn't seem to take long to get the first two walls completed. Because Jeremy and I got started a little later in the afternoon, we finished up the molding and primed/painted the next morning.
With all of the millwork completed, I began the hunt for the grasscloth wallpaper, as well as a trip to one of my favorite local fabric stores for the cornice material - which I've got a funny story about for the next post. Within a few short days, our wallpaper had arrived! I was a tad nervous, since I had purchased this online, and not through one of my vendors, I was completely relying on photos - normally I would have a sample sent to verify color, pattern, etc. But we were in luck! Although the grasscloth had a more open weave than I was expecting, it was still a beautiful paper from York Wallcoverings, and Jeremy loved it. The color was perfect! I'm gonna leave y'all with sneak peak of the freshly opened roll... I couldn't even wait to get it home, I opened it in the post office parking lot - and next time I'll tell you my funny fabric story, as well as our adventures as first time wallpaper hangers!
